If I don’t know what to stand for-How do I know when to move aside and let something pass me by?
As a Principal we see so many things fly before us. A new curriculum, a new app, an email about a new workbook or targeted service program that will be the change maker. Being my fourth year at the same school-I am getting much #better at glancing over these with a firmer foundation of what our school stands for so I know when to say ‘yes’ and when to say ‘no’.
At Woodson we want ALL kids:
TO FEEL: cared for and know that they matter to their teachers and to me.
TO PLAY: hard! Learning can be a fun experience when we work together, use our imagination and dream BIG-even when we are small.
TO LEARN: academic skills that will prepare our students to be ready for 1st grade while shooting for reading on level by third grade.
TO LOVE: learning and share that excitement with their friends, teachers and parents.
TO FIND: their SPARK and surround them with adults that will nurture that SPARK into a fire that supports them through their school years and beyond.
By taking the time to really reflect and write down what matters helps to frame the important from the unimportant. The ‘gotta be’s’ from the ‘would be nice’ and ultimately helps guide our vision for our future leaders.
Keep dreaming BIG for our LITTLEST learners,
